“Disciples of Christ, Witnesses of Hope“
“No one has ever seen God. Yet, if we love one another, God remains in us, and His love is brought to perfection in us.” 1 John 4:14.
As Luke recalls for us in today’s Gospel, only after the Apostles had absorbed the excitement and wonderment of seeing Jesus alive when they
thought Him dead, did the importance of His words take on meaning.
Jesus had chosen them as His witnesses to His mission and His true identity. If anyone among them had thought that Jesus had some other way of
telling the world about Himself, these thoughts were dismissed when they realized that they were the means, that they would be God’s instruments.
Just as the disciples realized that with the death and resurrection of Jesus they were suddenly forced to confront the radical change in their lives,
we too are called to do the same. As Christ’s followers, we must make Easter season a time of new beginning in our lives. As Disciples of Christ, being witnesses and believers, we cannot separate ourselves from being doers of the Word.
The Annual Catholic Appeal works to ensure the viability and growth of many charitable, pastoral and educational ministries throughout Delaware and Maryland’s Eastern Shore. With its theme, “Disciples of Christ, Witnesses of Hope” the Appeal brings hope and the good news of Christ’s love to thousands of men, women and children each year.
