School Supplies Project Needs Your Help!

SCHOOLS WILL BE OPENING!!  Not quite yet, but the St. Vincent de Paul Society is beginning our School Supplies Project. Last year we provided filled backpacks to over 115 children whose families were hard pressed to get them ready for school in the fall.

Because of the virus – we have to adjust our plan.  This year we are asking for MONETARY donations only, so that we can purchase supplies that will be sent directly to the schools where the children attend. Each school has agreed to provide the materials to the children identified as in need. Families who come to our food pantry are one of the main sources we use to identify those needing this assistance. But, compared to last year, we have twice the number of families coming to our food pantry; so, we expect the number in need to be quite large this year.

If you are able to provide help for these children, you may donate by a check made out to “The Society of St. Vincent DePaul”; mail it to us at P.O. Box 879, Ocean View, DE 19970. Alternatively, you may use one of the special St. Vincent envelopes (with the tan stripe), now available at the entrance to Church or in your bimonthly parish envelope package; and drop that envelope in the collection basket. Please mark “School supplies” on your check or donation envelope.

We’ll need to receive any donations by August 23, in order to be ready for the start of school. And, as usual, we are most grateful for your help and incredible  generosity.
