The 7:30AM Sunday Quiet Mass at St. Ann will continue thru the Lenten Season. That is, there will be no music or singing at that Mass.
The reason this is being done is that it has come to our attention that during COVID, there are people concerned about coming to Mass because of the singing. Studies show that activities related to performing arts, such as
singing, speaking loudly, and playing instruments in close proximity to others carry an elevated risk compared to other activities. Such activities require social distancing to be more than twice the regular 6 foot distance.
The Parish Council has discussed this issue with the Liturgy Committee and this is the recommendation. I hope that this will make at least a few more people feel comfortable enough to come back to church to attend the Quiet Mass.
