CROP Hunger Walks are community-based walk fundraising events held in cities and towns across the United States, created to support the global mission of Church World Service, a faith-based organization transforming communities around the globe through just and sustainable responses to hunger, poverty, displacement and disaster.
After a CROP Hunger Walk ends, 25% of the funds raised is returned to the host community to support local hunger fighting efforts.
This is the 36th year of SES Ministerium participation in The CROP Hunger Walk, September 6th through October 15th. Our date for the Walk is Sunday, October 5th, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church (OLG) at 2:30 PM. There will be a Prayer Service, music, door prizes, and spectacular fellowship. We especially need that camaraderie today in our contentious world.
Food Programs cutbacks are hitting the very people Jesus has asked us to serve. In Sussex County one in five kids are food insecure.
These are the children of our neighbors.
A portion of the contributions for the CROP Walk will stay in the community to support local food banks, including the one managed at OLG by our own parish’s Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
For parishioners, there are several ways to participate:
- Join us on Sunday, October 5th, at OLG
- Donate via a check with payment to: CWS – STVDP Bethany. Drop the check in the collection basket at church, or bring it to the Walk
- Go online to: 2025 Crop Hunger Walk. Click the Make a Donation button, and register for the team “STVDP BETHANY BEACH” in the Search Bar, and donate online.
- All donations are tax deductible.
In today’s challenging world, we need all the donations possible to respond to the rising food deprivation.
Choose to help by being with us for two hours, and please donate now.
