The Diocese of Wilmington is once again sponsoring its annual Marian pilgrimage to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC on Saturday October 11, from10am – 4pm. The Basilica is one of the 10 largest churches in the world, and contains more than 80 chapels and oratories that trelate to the Blessed Mother and peoples from countries around the world.
We are in the process of planning a parish pilgrimage to visit the shrine on this occasion; check back here to learn the details as they are finalized.
Bishop Koenig will offer mass and benediction at the Basilica. As this is a Jubilee Year, participants may receive a plenary indulgence if they meet the usual requirements of a plenary indulgence (see sidebar to the right).

The general conditions to receive the plenary indulgence are: (1) detachment from all sin, (2) sacramental confession, (3) Holy Communion, and (4) prayer for the intentions of the Holy Father.
Obtaining the plenary indulgence for the Jubilee year can be done by visiting the National Shrine, as a Jubilee pilgrimage site, and fulfilling these conditions.
