The Society of St. Vincent de Paul
St. Ann Conference
Mission Statement
In the Spirit of our founder, Blessed Frederick Ozanam and our Patron, St. Vincent de Paul, we have accepted the following Mission for our Conference:
Inspired by Gospel values, we are women and men who intend to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering. We are united in a spirit of charity, humility, and sharing, nourished by prayer and reflection through mutually supportive gatherings.
We witness God’s love by embracing all works of charity and justice, relieving need and addressing its causes, making no distinction in those served because, in them, we see the face of Christ.
Our main goal is to seek our own personal holiness through our works of charity. We will not only relieve material misery, but will aspire through our charity to render ourselves better and more fervent Christians, and will guide our poor to enter on the same path.
Our purpose is to foster the spiritual life of our members through the exercises of humility and charity and to offer both spiritual and material support to the poor. We seek to serve rather than be served, just as we witness in the life of Christ.
In attending to the needy and suffering, we are ministering to Jesus Christ Himself. “Whatever you do for the least of my brothers, that you do for me.”
